The North American Lutheran Church is committed to the renewal of all of our congregations. As Lutherans, we are part of a reforming tradition. Through centering alone on the Word of God, Martin Luther set off to renew the Church for God’s mission to be done in the world. The church throughout history has focused on a biblical theology of renewal consisting of five key areas: recovery of the Gospel, renewal of individuals, evangelism and outreach, extraordinary prayer, and the instituted means of grace in worship.

We are working to develop and deliver resources that challenge and open the NALC to the work of the Holy Spirit in our ministry and mission.

NALC Life-to-Life Discipleship

Our vision is that the NALC will reclaim the confessional Lutheran emphasis on ongoing catechesis and intentional faith formation in the life of all of its congregations. This same disciple-making identity will permeate every NALC congregation, be adopted by every NALC pastor, and become part of our church body’s DNA. Small and Rural Churches

Small and rural churches are the backbone of the Christian community in the United States. Whether these congregations are found in tiny towns, the middle of farmland, residential enclaves in suburbia or nestled within bustling cities, they are made up of groups of dedicated individuals who gather in mission, centered on Word and Sacrament. These congregations are discovering ways to build relationships and reach out to their neighbors.

Senior Ministry

Following Jesus doesn’t have a minimum or maximum age requirement. Survey after survey has begun to stir up fear in the hearts of churches across the United States as the average age of members increases across denominations. What if we saw this increasing “age” in our congregations as an opportunity for discipleship instead of as a negative factor?

Prayer is our opportunity to communicate with the living God. Because prayer is so critical, we’ve made a forum available for you to connect with others in the NALC who are looking for prayer and willing to pray for you. Prayer is not an option for the disciple but a gift and integral part of our lives.

The Academy
